A species of Idotea was sent to the U. S. National Museum by Dr. Ritter. The specimens, which are eight in number, were collected by him at Bolinas, California. They are more closely allied to /. gracillima than to any other known species of Idotea from the Pacific coast of North America.

Weights of algae fed to isopods over 3 days and fecal matter subsequently produced were used to determine AE. Attachment strength of the herbivorous rockweed isopod, Idotea wosnesenskii (Isopoda, Crustaceae, Arthropoda), depends on properties of its seaweed host Aquatic invertebrates are common reservoirs of a rapidly expanding group of circular Rep-encoding ssDNA (CRESS-DNA) viruses. This study identified and explored the phylogenetic relationship between novel CRESS-DNA viral genotypes associated with Pacific intertidal isopods Idotea wosnesenskii, Idotea resecata, and Gnorimosphaeroma oregonensis. Idotea wosnesenskii Brandt, a valviferan isopod, has five pairs of pleopods within a branchial chamber enclosed by modified uropods (operculae). The pumping mechanism of resting isopods was videotaped to observe ventilation, and particularly to determine whether or not the swimming pleopods (first three pairs) and the gas exchange pleopods (last two pairs) have ventilatory roles. We used a FA-based Bayesian mixing model (FASTAR) to generate quantitative diet estimates of 3 algal phyla for an intertidal herbivorous isopod, Idotea wosnesenskii, at 6 sites in Puget Sound, Washington. 2021-04-01 Idotea wosnesenskii Brandt, 1851 Taxonomic Serial No.: 771314 (Download Help) Idotea wosnesenskii TSN 771314 Taxonomy and Nomenclature Kingdom: Animalia : Taxonomic Rank: Species : Common Name(s): Valid Name: Pentidotea wosnesenskii (Brandt, 1851) Taxonomic Status: Current View Name Sources Download CSV Download BibTeX Bibliography for Idotea wosnesenskii by Page Close Image. Four species of Idotea are extremely wide-ranging forms, suggesting that members of this genus may be considerably more eurythermal than previously suspected. Idotea wosnesenskii and I. resecata range from the Gulf of California to Alaska; I. stenops ranges from Baja California (or possibly the Gulf of California) to Oregon; and I. urotoma Arthropod (joint legged animals) continued Kelp isopods (Idotea wosnesenskii) Isopods are commonly found hiding in algae and kelp and under rocks.

It has oval eyes (not reniform), long antennae and blunt lateral borders on the first pleonite (compare to acute borders as in I. wosnesenskii). Idotea montereyensis is Kelp isopod, rockweed isopod, green isopod • Idotea wosnesenskii, Pentidotea wosnesenskii {wosnesenskii = for Ilya Gavrilovich Voznesenski from the St. Petersburg Zoological museum in the 1800's, who collected this species in Alaska, California, and Siberia} Idotea wosnesenskii is a small marine crustacean (Phylum Arthropoda, Order Isopoda). They have a segmented, rectangular body that can reach 40 mm in length. Like all isopods, their body is flattened for top to bottom (dorsoventrally) and they have seven pairs of visible legs. Idotea wosnesenskii individuals are robust, not tapered, elongate and depressed (see Fig. 62, Ricketts and Calvin 1952). Cephalon: Wider than long, with frontal mar-gin slightly concave (Miller 1968) and posteri-or portion somewhat wider than anterior por-tion (Richarson 1905).
